Task 5 - Professional Bodies supporting the Industry

Professional Bodies in the Gaming Industry.

There are different professional bodies in the industry and they have different functions.

Some examples could be:

BAFTA: 

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts is an independent charity that supports, develops and promotes the art forms of the moving image by identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefiting the public. 

Mainly, BAFTA rewards exellence in electronic arts and films but also in games, they take part by doing Game awards, Events and different features and activities. 

The game industry is supported by BAFTA in a different way than usual, as normal we will see professional bodies giving and helping with funding for projects or related ideas but BAFTA rewards the best developers and also leads event for developers or consumers as well as activities for both of them. 

IGDA:

IGDA is the largest non-profit membership organization in the world serving all individuals who create games. Is a professional association that exists as a global network of collaborative projects and communities comprised of individuals from all fields of game development - from programmers and producers to writers, artists, QA and localization. 

IGDA is the association you want to get contact with if you start creating a game and you need that someone to help you, something they do is Advance careers and enhance live of game developers by connecting members with their peers. 

UKIE:

UKIE is the only trade body for the UK's games and interactive industry.

They represent businesses of all size and they are a not-for-profit association.

They give practical support, advice, guidance, introductions and discounts on services as well as key events when you join Ukie, This is a huge help for a small or even a big company because they always get any support they need in something they wouldn't be able to accomplish
